Achene of the blank-eyed girl

I saw it on TV, thought I’d give it a whirl

I’ll pop my cap, let my soul unfurl

I wanna be pollen, wanna see the world

Cuz when you’re nothing, nothing really matters

No one mourns you when you’re missing, when your molecules are scattered

There’s no body lying broken at the bottom of a ladder

There's nobody left at all, I guess, though I don’t know what’s sadder

And honestly the only thing that’s calming

Typically tends to be the thing that others find alarming

Like a giant finger coming down to smear me ’cross the page,

Or the thought, could I evaporate into a cloud of haze?

But you collect my thoughts

Make the whole world

Stop

Reel me in enough

You shouldn’t have

And when it’s bubbling up

You turn the burner

Off

Simmer down a touch

I’m in love

Whenever I do get this way of feeling

It is usually because I’ve started drinking or stopped eating

That’s something that you said we’d circle back to

And it’s sweet that you suggested, but I’m glad we never had to

Cuz something I’m reluctant to examine

Is the way you’re so reliably a feast amidst my famine

And my friends say I look happier whenever you’re around

Having noticed, it’s enough to turn my smile upside-down

How you collect my thoughts

Make the whole world

Stop

Reel me in enough

You shouldn’t have

And when I’ve tied my tongue

You coax the knot undone

Such a clever one

I’m in love

You undress my heart

Pry the pretense off

Open what was shut

Tell me I’m enough

And when I’m hosting such,

Such unpleasant thoughts

You’re the one I trust

I’m in love

I’m in love

I’m in love

I’m in love

Achene of the blank-eyed girl

I saw it on TV, thought I’d give it a

whirl I’ll pop my cap, let my soul unfurl I wanna

be pollen, I wanna see the world.
